Garden Blogger's Blooms Day March 2009
March GBBD is the most interesting mid month bloom display post for me. Unfortunately I missed posting for GBBD last month. But not this time as the garden is in its prime, bustling with blooms, and all other commitments can wait as it is not every month that you can display your blooms with a mixture of pride and satisfaction.
Evolution of a home garden is such an apt reflection of our own evolvement as humans with time. There has been a gradual positive change in the character and contents of the garden. The range of plants, their arrangement in the garden, the quality of blooms, everything has shown an improvement from previous years.
Spring imparts a Midas touch as almost everything which is supposed to bloom, blooms. And, its thanks to the magic of Spring that there is a veritable feast for eyes which I share here as a part of GBBD started by Carol of Maydreamgardens:
Dimorphotheca
Gazania
Lemon Bloom
Begonias
Bottle Brush
Rose
Dahlias

Ice Flower
A rose bud with Marigolds in background
Brachycomes and Kalanchoe
Poppies
Nasturtium with Verbenas
WOW, cool blooms!
ReplyDeleteAmazing, what a treat for the eye. So many interesting blooms in your garden and that Bottle brush, what a perfect name for it.
ReplyDeleteLovely Brown Thumb

I can't believe that you get poppies to bloom and your dahlias are gorgeous. Your blooms are beautiful. I have tried growing dahlias but they didn't get very big and I have grown gazanias but they did not last too long. It is just too hot here for some of the plants. I take my hat off to you! Callistemon or bottle brush grows here and I have on in a pot to plant out. Lovely garden!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous display. I particularly enjoyed all the daisy forms in bloom in your garden.

ReplyDeleteLook at all those pretty flowers! I enjoyed looking at them!
ReplyDeleteThose blue eyed daisies are a favorite. It must have a lot of synonyms or name changes. I have heard them called Osteospermums among other things.

I saw the Ice plants (succulents)in California...but cannot grow them here in Florida, sadly! Yours are really pretty! Also love your sort of striped Poppies (another one I cannot grow here)!

You have an absolute riot of color in your garden... It must be a wonderful sight when you wake up every morning. Here, we're having the spring rains, so nothing much yet but everything is getting ready!
ReplyDeleteWhat a plethora of wonderful colors. I love the striped poppies and the pale pink/yellow single dahlia. I was actually looking online at some of those single pastel dahlia seeds-I will definitely order some.
ReplyDeleteYou have a flower paradise in your garden!

As always, your blooms are treat to my eyes. I always envy your Dahlias. I never manage to germinate them. They were the first ones I sowed and am still sowing only to wait upon expectantly.
ReplyDeleteI think your rose stole my heart...though I do love the peony poppy too...decisions, decisions... :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic array of dahlias too..such a beautiful and colourful display, Green thumb :)
What a nice collection of flowers. They warm my heart...
ReplyDeleteAestethically it would be more
ReplyDeleteadequate to let that prairy grass in
the first pictures grow up to six,
twelve inches.
In that way it would look natural,
not burned, sad, as it looks in the
picture in the eyes of an expert.
What a lovely blooms !!
