Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - November 2009

November GBBD is always special as this is the best season here to be outdoors before the frigid December winters envelope the plants in a dense fog, sending them into dormancy or freezing them to death. Although, probably as an adverse effect of global warming, one gets to see blooms in mid December also. These are the plants which grace the garden here in NOVEMBER Portulaca Calliandra or Powder Puff Shrimp plant or Pachystachys lutea Buddha Belly or Jatropha Podagrica Lantana Gaillardia or Blanket Flower PlumeriaWater Lily

    You have some beautiful flowers in your garden!

    we get a few frosts through December, but our first real freeze usually happens in January... People who have roses are getting a 'second spring' of blooms right now, and everyone is planting out cyclamens and pansies, which will bloom right through to next year.

    Calliandra - I saw one of these flowering in India, (I think in the gardens at the Taj Mahal) and thought it was lovely. I didn't know what it was, so thanks for giving me its name.

    Powder puff are great flowers, around here they bloom year around, I like that Buddha belly, I never seen one before

    All beautiful blooms and photos... I love the Plumeria with its buds and unfurling bloosoms... and your shrimp plant and powder puff are fun and gorgeous colors. Its great to see what is blooming in your world! Carol

    Wow, just look at that gorgeous waterlily of yours, love its colour!

    I know many of the plants you grow in your garden but I know them only as pot plants and every time you show them I'm amazed that those lovely plants can actually grow in a real garden. ;-)

    Here my garden has also experienced the effects of global warming as there are still many plants in flower that would usually be dormant by now.

    Love those Powder Puff flowers, they are frightfully frivolous!

    Beautiful flowers. We have flowers year round here in Houston Texas also, unless we get a big cold then i'm out with about 40 sheets covering all my tropicals the best i can. But its always nice to see some flowers that i never see. Beautiful flowers always look beautiful with other garden decor also.

    Been reading your blog on and off and enjoy it - also makes me feel nostalgic for Indian gardens :-)

    Lovely pics here. I like lantana (used to eat its delicious berries!) but it is classfied as a weed in Australia. I know the environments are different but it did make me think a bit about the lack of any such classification in India.
