My Croton Collection

DO FLOWERS ALONE MAKE A PLANT LOOK BEAUTIFUL??? Certainly not! a look at these beauties testifies to the artist nature is. No flowers, just the leaves with a mixture of colour and variations in pattern.

Here blooms my first Pansy of the season. I have always been fascinated by Pansies…that cute face staring at you with a mixture of frown and deep thought, I remember reading somewhere that the word Pansy is derived from French word pensee- meaning ‘thought’ as the flower looks busy in some deep thought!

Whew! Finally the downpour has exhausted itself but not before it gave me lot of tense moments and did some damage to my garden.
Here it blooms-the beautiful Dahlia, standing defiantly like a true survivor, warming my heart with its orange glow.
WHEN THE HELL WILL IT STOP???
At first it won't rain for months and finally when it does, it is untimely and shows no sign of stopping.
First few drops soothed my soul but the rest of them have soaked my garden and suffocated my plants, my heart cries for these poor things still standing defiantly against this unexpected onslaught. I hope the rains stop soon...

I was pleasantly surprised today as I woke up to a heavily clouded morning. Slightly unusual for this time of the year but is like a boon for my garden.
I hope it does not rain too heavy, just sufficient to water my thirsty garden.

Ubiquitous in religious ceremonies all over India, marigold flower is used for making garlands as an offering to deities. Sacred or Satanic I love these marigolds for their beauty.

Spring is knocking

Spring is almost here .The weather is really pleasant and my plants seem to be enjoying it to fullest. My annuals have yet not flowered but they sure are looking much happier. And yes,my sweetpeas are blooming marvellously.

This is a lean time for my garden.Crysanthemums have already perished and it is too early for dahlias to flower. I've planted seedlings of number of annuals like petunia, cineraria, lupin and calendula.Hopefully my garden will bring lots of cheer next month, but for now.... these are real depressing times. The silver lining(or maybe the golden lining) is my yard is glowing with the yellow of mustard flower. The flowering of mustard is the harbinger of good times ahead as it heralds the onset of spring.

This is the best time of the year for roses. Roses are exquisite in their beauty,no wonder they are every gardeners choice. Just the right balance of water, sunlight and fertilizers ,and roses bless their owners with beautiful blooms year after year.
