GBBD NOVEMBER 2008

A gentle blast of chilly air greeted me as I woke up today morning to open the door. Any trace of sleep which was there completely evaporated; winters are here, and for next couple of months I’ll wake anxiously everyday to check if the blooms are still there. Despite the impending gloom, right now there is a lot in bloom! (Please excuse my feeble attempts at poetry). Autumn feels like a second spring as the garden still has many birds and blooms, and the temperatures are very pleasant. So as of now I can still very proudly boast of a bloom list for this GBBD as part of the monthly blooging event started by Carol at Maydreamgardens: Celosia with Salvia in backdrop Calliandra emarginata or Powder Puff Butterfly weed Dracaena in bloom, I've seen it bloom for the first time Hedychium Coronarium Rangoon creeper or Quisqualis Indica Gladioli Bouganvillea Lemonia or Ravenia spectabilis Euphorbia milli Yellow lantana Poinsettia and my first set of Chrysanthemums Kalanchoe

Autum is the beginning of next spring I always say. Even if there is vinter between. The winter has arrived here, and this years autum is gone.

I love your pictures, the dracaena whit flovers is beautifull. The Poinsettia is used as an christmas-plant in Norway. It is only for sale from mid novemer every year.

Nice blooms, GT!!! I love Euphorbia Milli, but I managed to kill mine, so I will not try again for now. Also love your solid colored lantana...i have a white one and a multi. Once I saw a multi that also had a blue flower mixed in, but have never seen another one...would love to have that variety!!!

Hi GB, your blooms are pretty as ever and you've captured them more beautiful. I can almost smell the scent of that rangoon creeper's flowers and I'd love to be a butterfly and drink the nectar from your yellow lantanas! Mmmmm.... Yumm...

Happy GBBD dear Green Thumb and what a feast it is in your garden with all those lovely blooms flowering their socks off.

The powder puffs are certainly very puffy but are they powdery too? ;-)

Another first bloom for you this year I see, the Dracaena, and it's gorgeous.

That Rangoon creeper has very beautiful and elegant little flowers.

And once again I see many plants happily growing in your garden that I only see in pots on window sills here.

A dracaena in bloom? A *dracaena* in bloom!! How lovely! Wish mine would flower, too -- some time.

Such a lot of beautiful flowers in your garden, even at this time of year! And I do love your new header!

Beautiful photos. The Calliandra emaginata flower looks identical to our Fairy Duster (C. eriophylla), but it appears the leaves are totally different. I'm not familiar with the Hedychium Coronarium but find it especially appealing.

You have lots of lovely blooms, and it appears a new camera, too!
I love your celosia and salvia combo. Celosia was a common cottage garden flower in the Caribbean when I was a child, ubiquitously called "cockcomb". It’s so rare here, now. I actually planted a packet of seeds this weekend, I hope it will grow to be lovely like yours. Your poinsettia looks picture perfect. Isn’t Rangoon creeper divine?

You have cheered up my dark, dismal, damp day here in London! What wonderful blooms, I bet some have a heavenly scent too? Especially the Hedychium lillies.

Beautiful blooms on this chilly day in Nashville...the tropical colors warm up the evening! I recognize a few plants! Others are completely new.

What a colorful post for November, Green Thumb - it's like a rainbow.
We haven't had frost yet and there are flowers in my garden so I should not complain, but your powderpuff and white ginger are making me jealous. My white ginger fried this summer and didn't bloom and I miss it. And the powder puff is just so darned cute!

Hi! I found you through a comment you left to Sue at the Balcony Garden. I see she hasn't posted since that last one. I hope she comes back soon.

I scrolled down, and enjoyed looking at your pictures. I will be posting houseplants for the December GBBD, as I live in Nebraska, in the U.S.
